Author Guide
1. Submitting Articles
Submitting articles to Erdem journal and tracking the entire subsequent process is done via YAYSİS at https://giris.ayk.gov.tr/signin. Authors and reviewers who are not members of the system must complete their membership procedures via YAYSİS.
Authors who have completed the registration process should select Atatürk Cultural Centre Presidency as the Institution and Erdem as the journal via the system. The required information about the article and author should be entered correctly into the system, and the article's PDF, Word version, and bibliography should be uploaded. The declaration of commitment must be digitally approved, which serves as a substitute for a wet signature.
During the article submission process to Erdem journal, authors can find guidance in the ‘Article Submission Training Video’ available at https://yaysis2.ayk.gov.tr/yts/educationPage.
2. Article Pre-Review
Articles submitted via YAYSİS go through the following stages in sequence:
2.1. The journal editorial board checks the suitability of the article according to the Erdem Journal Publication Principles, the institution's field of activity, and the journal's subject area. Articles that do not meet these criteria are returned to the author by the editors with justification. This stage is completed within 7-10 days.
* The author may revise their article to meet the criteria, taking into account the feedback provided, and resubmit it to the journal.
2.2 Articles that pass the editorial review and are deemed suitable are referred to relevant Institution experts for evaluation of their scientific adequacy. The experts submit their opinions on the article and their referee recommendations (2 main and 2 substitute referee names) to the Erdem Journal Editorial Board by filling out the ‘Article Preliminary Review Form’. The article's plagiarism check is also performed at this stage. The expert preliminary review stage is completed within 7-10 days.
The plagiarism check of the article is performed automatically by YAYSİS via intihal.net when the article is uploaded to the system. The similarity rate cannot exceed 20%.
3. Erdem Journal Editorial Board Review
3.1 The Erdem Journal Editorial Board, which meets according to the journal's agenda, evaluates the article text in terms of scientific adequacy criteria, taking into account the ‘Article Preliminary Review Form’ prepared by the Institution's expert.
Following its review, the Editorial Board may decide to ‘Send to Reviewers’ or ‘Reject’ the article.
According to the Board's decision, the article is sent to at least two reviewers designated by the editorial office, or the author is notified of the ‘Reject’ decision.
4. Publication of Articles
If an article receives two ‘approvals’ from referees, it will be published in accordance with the publication plan and in the appropriate number, subject to the recommendation and decision of the Erdem Journal Editorial Board and the approval of the Management Board of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History.
Each article published in the journal is assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier System) number, and the authors' ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) numbers are published within the author information.
5. Royalty Payment
ERDEM journal is prepared and published using public resources; it does not charge authors any fees and pays royalties to authors and reviewers in accordance with the provisions of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History’s Copyright, Publication and Sales Regulation.
The journal does not charge article applicants any fees for applications or other processes; however, authors who withdraw their articles during the evaluation process without a compelling reason accepted by the Publication Committee/Board of Directors will be charged a review fee. The copyright of articles published in the journal belongs to the authors, while the commercial use rights belong to the publisher.
